How to measure for your kilt
What not to do when measuring for a kilt
Don’t go by your trouser waist size as the top of a kilt is worn just under the rib cage, level with your navel (belly button).
It is not worn under the belly!
What to do
- Get a measuring tape
- Put a shirt on, (as you will likely wear the kilt with the shirt tucked in)
- Measure over the top of shirt, around your waist, level with your belly button (navel).
- Put your thumb inside the tape measure and relax.
- Don’t try to hold your stomach in or hold your breath.
- Take the reading.
That's all there is to it.
It is not unusual for your kilt size to be two to four inches bigger than your trouser waist size, unless you are in fairly good shape!
